An unusual look at soprano repertoire
Fleurville is a collective of mainly classically trained musicians who are interested in taking classical (soprano) repertoire, the music they decided to dedicate their lives to, to a new extent. Never loosing the focus on the beauty of these old compositions they let the musical influences of modern days rearrange the music and as such bring these harmonies and melodies to a new age.
What happens is that true classical music grows into tunes that have been influenced by and rearranged as popular music, sometimes even turning into free improvisation.
Besides the musical innovation the collective also puts emphasis on modernizing the musical stage presence and as such moving away from traditional Liedsetting. Physically performing and staging the music, translating Lied content into a Music Theater setting and into a visual stage light design is an important goal of Fleurville.
Anja Loosli - soprano
Lydia Opilik – soprano
Duri Collenberg – piano
Rasmus Nissen – electric guitar
Claudia Hansen – percussion
Distillation is the first production of this new collective and shows the core of their future work:
Fleurville. Two sopranos. A pianist. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms. An electric guitarist and a percussionist. A stage that begs for motion. A space that asks for color. Distillation is a three dimensional visualization of soprano repertoire, a sound progress, a permission to let your musical imagination free. It is a one-hour musical journey based on a few-second-long train of thought. It zooms in on emotions evoked by romantic vocal music. An unusual look at soprano repertoire.
